CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Arnold Charles Kunz, 74, of Wood-Ridge and formerly of Carlstadt, died Sunday, Aug. 14 at Hackensack University Medical Center after battling cancer.
He was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Carlstadt and was a Carlstadt resident for 64 years before moving to Wood-Ridge 10 years ago.
After his service in the military, he worked as a truck driver at Grand Union until his retirement.
He was known by his family and friends for his quick wit and sense of humor, his love of animals, his appreciation of a good meal, his knowledge of sports trivia, his vigilance in watching over the parking spaces on his block and his heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ellen (nee Edelbach); two daughters, Amy and Meredith; one son, Andrew and his wife Meghan; two sisters, Eileen and Mary; one brother, Daniel; five grandchildren; his beloved pugs, Puggy Sue and Irish; and all of his grand-animals.
There will be a funeral departing at 9 a.m. Friday from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad St., Carlstadt for a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, East Rutherford. Cremation will be at East Ridgelawn Crematory in Clifton. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
